Bevlee Reaston
Consultant Solicitor
Family Law Division
Bev was admitted to practice in Queensland on 5 February 1980 following the completion of her articles of clerkship in Townsville. Bev was one of the first female students accepted into articles at the time. Apart from a brief period of absence from the law following the birth of her second child in 1985, Bev has practised exclusively in the area of Family Law for nearly 30 years. Bev has seen and worked through the implementation of new legislation governing matrimonial issues and issues concerning care of children.
Bev has been part of the Cairns legal fraternity for almost her entire career. In addition to being the Cairns representative on the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Bev is active in raising the level of knowledge of law in the community.
To this end, Bev has presented various papers to teachers, students, allied professionals and law conference attendees. Bev also provides pro-bono legal advice to the Abused Child Trust, a non-profit organisation which works closely with the Department of Communities and Department of Child Safety.
A mother of three (now grown) children, and a former day-care provider, Bev provides a compassionate and understanding face to the intricacies of the laws governing family issues.
